| 内容記述 | 了德寺大学では2022年度から適用される新カリキュラムの検討の結果，英語科目に英会話とベーシック・イングリッシュを新設することを2020年度に決定した．この新科目の設置の妥当性を2021年度の入学生を対象に調査を行い検証したところ，どちらの科目も妥当であることが示唆された．しかし実際にこのカリキュラムで履修する2022年度の入学生に調査を行ったところ，ベーシック・イングリッシュは150人の学生が実際に履修したが，英会話は9人しか履修しなかった．調査では英語のスピーキング力を伸ばしたいと回答した学生が最も多かったのにもかかわらず，英語を話す力に自信がないことを理由として履修を避けた学生が多かった．そのため，学生の力に合わせて授業を進めることを周知し，学生の不安を取り除くことが必要である．また，ベーシック・イングリッシュは多くの学生が履修したが，1クラスの人数が多すぎてきめ細かな指導が難しくなっているため，次年度以降はクラス数を増やすことを検討している． | |||||||||||||||||

| 内容記述 | In 2020, Ryotokuji University decided to add English Conversation and Basic English courses to the English language learning curriculum starting in 2022. The introduction of these two subjects was deemed desirable based on the questionnaire survey conducted in 2021. However, the survey conducted in 2022 revealed that only 9 students chose English Conversation while 150 students selected Basic English courses. Although the maximum number of students in the survey answered that they aspired to improve their speaking skills, they appeared to have chosen another subject because they are not confident about their English speaking ability. Therefore, we need to inform them that the instructors would conduct the class according to students’ English proficiency and relieve their anxiety. As for Basic English courses, more classes are needed because significantly more students selected this course than we had expected, and the instructors could not suitably guide them in their studies. | |||||||||||||||||
