However the way is unclear.\nPurpose\nThe present study is aim to obtain the beneficial information of the optimum way to reduce body fat and increase lean body mass (LBM) by revealing the changing body composition during weight reduction for bodybuilding contest.\nMethods\nFive male university bodybuilders were recruited. They tried resistance training 6 days a week. We measured body mass, %fat, LBM, fat mass and body water once a month during six months weight reduction for bodybuilding competition.\nResults\nAll parameters were significantly decreased. The decrement of fat mass was 36.3±7.6%(-4.2±1.3kg). It was significantly higher than 2.7±1.2%of LBM(-1.8±1.0kg).\nDiscussion\nEven if the way for weight reduction which attempts to gain maximum skeletal muscle mass by resistance training for bodybuilding competition, LBM doesn’t increase but remain. The way has ability to change the body composition remarkably because decrement of fat mass is very high and to prevent loosing LBM.
