The number of valid responses was 100 students in the Department of Physiotherapy (survey response return rate of 96%), 84 in Dept. of Nursing (80%), and 39 in Dept. of Judo Therapy and Sports Medicine (38%). The analysis method used the “product-moment correlation coefficient” analysis of Pearson to assess a link between social skills quantified according to 18 criteria ("KiSS-18"), and self-monitoring quantified according to 13 criteria (version revised to suit Japanese conditions). The results of this survey revealed that students of this university tended to have a high level of both social skills and self-monitoring. This may be due to the fact that students of the Faculty of Health Sciences aim to become healthcare professionals and recognize the need for the ability to maintain good interpersonal relations in addition to professional knowledge and expertise.
