We measured the levels of the autonomy of 122 nurses working at psychiatry by using the scale of professional autonomy. The one-way analysis of variance was used for the analysis. The result showed that the autonomy of the nurses who had practiced psychoeducation before tended to be higher than those who had not. By applying the communication technique used in psychoeducation to the usual care for patients, they were able to observe its effectiveness, and eventually felt the sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.
